COURSE DESCRIPTION
This seminar looks at how music is used in the filmmaking process. It will provide insights into spotting the film, creating a temp score, and “speaking music” in order to create a dramatic concept for the score. The class will analyze real world examples of workflows and production techniques for music composition and production, and provide tips in overcoming the technical hurdles when conforming, recording, editing, mixing, and delivering film music.

BIO
James Sizemore is a New York based music editor, composer and orchestrator, best known for his work orchestrating films such as "The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug" and "The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies". His feature film credits include “A Dog’s Purpose”, “Spotlight”, “Rosewater”, and most recently “The Catcher Was a Spy”. He has taught at NYU and CUNY and has lectured at both the NYU Tisch School of Film and the Manhattan School of Music.
