The Difference between Editing Comedy and Drama

New York

Address: MPEG Office - 145 Hudson Street, Suite 201

Educational

Editor: Robert Nassau
This is a seminar with a ½ hour break
Session: 11:00AM – 3:30PM
Refundable Deposit Fee: $40.00

This seminar is open to 35 active members.

Outline:

A discussion of editing principles and practices that aims to inspire new ways of solving the creative issues we face every day. We’ll be talking mostly about scripted features but many of the same ideas apply to non-fiction.

How do we editors think about the work we do? What’s the meaning of a cut? How do we recognize and respond to the needs of the film? How do we make it funny or sad or both? The instructor doesn’t actually know the answers but is hoping to figure some of it out before and possibly during the seminar.

Bio:

Robert Nassau is a NYC-based editor. His recent work includes the films The Big Sick (Amazon), Hello My Name is Doris (Roadside Attractions), the Wet Hot American Summer series (Netflix), as well as Wanderlust (Universal), and Childrens Hospital (Adult Swim).
