Western Region Retirees Luncheon

The Guild hosted its 20th Retirees Luncheon on May 20 at the Sportsmen’s Lodge in Studio City. Some 310 retirees and their guests spent the afternoon renewing friendships and exchanging observations from their careers. Many retirees brought their children and grandchildren to share in the living history that is our Guild.

Diane Adler, Phyllis Elias and Jan Ambler
welcome guests to the West Coast luncheon.

The first luncheon, organized by Board Member Bill Elias, was held in 1981 at the Beverly Hilton. Thereafter, it was held every 18 months until 1992, when it became an annual event. This year’s gathering lasted five hours and included drinks, lemon herb chicken and dancing to the music of Phil Freidman and his six-piece band. Guild President Donn Cambern offered a "State of the Union" speech. If you’ve never been to a Retirees Luncheon, be sure to come next year. It’s a warm, lively gathering. And who knows who you might run into? - Jeff Burman
