The Guild's participation at this year's ShowBiz Expo in L.A. was quite a success. Our booth was designed to resemble a movie-theatre lobby with an old-fashioned popcorn cart and a candy and information counter. Hundreds of people were drawn to the booth by the smell of fresh-popped popcorn, and then stuck around to watch a video presentation featuring the award-winning work of our members. The booth's signage included an eye-grabbing 3-D version of the Guild logo, as well as colorful graphic panels outlining the benefits of Guild membership and the various classifications that make up our local.

In addition to the popcorn, visitors were welcome to pick up free Editors Guild notepads, a new informational brochure, copies of the Newsletter, and candy. We also debuted our new baseball caps, selling many of them at $10 a piece.

Our thanks go out to all those Board and staff members who helped out this year. We would also like to ac-knowledge DES in North Hollywood for its generous contribution of an Avid editing system, used by Guild Avid trainer Dieter Rozek to create our video presentation, and the video monitor and speakers used for playback at the show.

ShowBiz Expo New York takes place at the Jacob Javits Convention Center, September 16-18, in Manhattan. Members can attend free of charge by contacting the East Coast Guild office at (212) 302-0700 and requesting a pass. See you there!
