Avid's Hollywood Advisory Council Reconvenesby Todd Busch Avid Technology's Hollywood Advisory Council met for the first time this year on January 13 at the Avid Burbank office. The council is made up of representatives of local support companies and rental houses, editors and engineers, assembled by Avid for the sole purpose of staying in touch with the trends of the Hollywood community. The recent concern with bugs and how to deal with them was addressed. At present, confirmed bugs within current releases of Film Composer and Media Composer can be found on the Avid web site under Customer Support. At the Service site you can also find product support announcements, FAQs, Avid technical notes and tips & techniques. Another place to go for current information and updates is the quarterly online newsletter, Film & Television Update, which replaces the previously distributed Avid Answers. Current issues are available in PDF format and require Adobe Acrobat Reader 3.0. If you encounter a bug, please contact Avid at (800) 800-2843. Be sure to say that you are 'reporting a bug' and make certain that the tech passes it on to engineering. In the works is a new database system for tracking and formulating standard resolutions to common problems which will be made available to support staffs everywhere. The council is only one part of an ongoing effort within Avid to better communicate with users and the Hollywood community.
