Good Times at the Installation Dinner

The Installation Dinner for the new Board of Directors was held Saturday, February 6, at the Sheraton Universal hotel. This was the inaugural event for Local 700's first nationally elected board, which was sworn in earlier that day at a special Saturday-morning board meeting.

Close to 70 people enjoyed hors d'oeurves, cocktails and dinner. It was especially nice to have the Eastern Region so well represented. On hand from New York were assistant executive director Lorraine Seidel, business representative Norman Gay, second vice president Martin Levenstein, and board members Louis Bertini, Laura Congleton, Peter Frank and Ted Troll.

During dinner, President Donn Cambern welcomed everyone and then handed out plaques to outgoing board members Justin Bourret, F. Hudson Miller and Patrick Gregston. Outgoing treasurer Jim Butler received a special crystal award honoring him for 31 years of service to the Guild, as did Jan Ambler for 20 years of service. Jim made an emotional farewell speech, remarking that his association with the Editors Guild was a tremendous source of pride. He received a standing ovation.

Kudos to Lisa Dosch for planning such a wonderful evening.
