Our Training Program
Is Available Again

by Hank Schloss

The training program is now going ahead at full speed, for both picture and sound. Classes are available on Avid, Lightworks, Fairlight, Pro Tools, Audiovision. Advanced courses are available on most of the systems, such as the 7.0 upgrade on the Avid.

What Classes Do You Need?

Important:
Transferred members from 695, please give us input into what your training needs are. We want to know what type of training you need in order to do your job and what facilities offer those types of training.

To be eligible for a class, you must be on the Local 776 roster and be on active status. Applications are available at the Guild office, or by calling the office and having the receptionist send you one. After filling out the application, return it to the Guild office. You will be called by the facility offering the training when there is a class available for you. At that time, you will be required to pay your share and Contract Services will pay the balance.

After you have taken the class you can get additional practice time at the Guild offices by calling and reserving time in two-hour blocks. Currently available for practice are Avid and Lightworks. In the very near future, there will be a Pro Tools, and the Avid will be upgraded to the very latest 7.0 version.

There are qualified coaches available for those who need help and all practice time is under supervision. Remember that to be eligible for the free practice time at the Guild, you must have recently taken the appropriate class or can demonstrate a working knowledge of the editing system on which you want to practice.
