Training And Practice News

from Hank Schloss

The Editors Guild training program for the Avid is still available at both Video Symphony and Montana Edit and both places offer many variations of what can be done on this system. Training on the Lightworks system is no longer available through the Guild but may be available at other organizations.

The following regulations apply to eligibility for the Guild program: You must be on the roster of Local 700 as well as a member and you must file an application for the course you want to take. Get the application from the Guild receptionist and return it to the Guild. You will be called by the facility you have selected when they have an opening. You may take more than one class but please file only one application at a time.

The Guild also offers 'practice time' on up to date equipment in our offices. The practice room now has the latest model Avid and the latest ProTools, as well as a Lightworks. There are qualified instructors available in the training room to coach those that need it.

To book practice time at the Guild, call the office (323) 876-4770 ext.246. Time is available in 2-hour blocks and practice material is provided. Facilities are available Monday thru Friday from 9 am to 3 pm. At this time, ProTools is available only on Wednesdays.
