Ted Rich "Roasted" at NAB

Retired Guild member Ted Rich was honored on Tuesday, April 20, at a special NAB event held in his honor. Many of the leading people in the Hollywood post-production community were on hand to "roast" Ted and thank him for his contributions to the industry.

at the NAB party thrown in his honor.

The party was organized by Herb Dow, A.C.E., the 12th consecutive year Herb has hosted a soirée at Bob Taylor's Ranch House on the outskirts of Las Vegas. Attendees this year included the heads of television post at several studios and production companies, execs from many of the major post houses on the West Coast, and many others who have worked with Ted over the years. It's always impressive to have so many key folks from this business gathered in one place, and all had great fun praising and ribbing the guest of honor.

Ted began his career as an editor at Desilu Productions, where he cut the series 'I'm Dickens-He's Fenster'. His later editing credits include 'My Favorite Martian', 'Wild Wild West', 'Get Smart' and 'MacMillan & Wife'. In 1974 he became head of post production at MTM, overseeing such shows as 'Mary Tyler Moore', 'Rhoda',' Newhart', 'Hill Street Blues' and 'St. Elsewhere'. He moved to Lorimar in 1989 as VP of post production, working on such popular series as 'Dallas' and 'Knot's Landing'. When Warner Bros. took over Lorimar the following year, Ted was actually responsible for the post production of 21 series at once, as well as a host of TV movies.

He continues to work on selected TV and cable MOWs, most recently serving as associate producer for UPN's 'Beyond the Bermuda Triangle'.
