Avid Tips: Using Command-Drag to by Steven Cohen | |

Holding down the command key and dragging the blue bar will jump from cut to cut. This is a terrific way to quickly move around in the timeline and land in a precise spot. It's generally much easier to get to a cut point this way than by using 'go to transition'. Command-drag will take you to the first frame of every cut. You can also jump to the last frame of every cut. Do this by holding down command and option and dragging. Command-drag and command-option-drag work in segment mode, too. Use them to align a segment to transition points. Align head frames with command, tail frames with command+option. For example, to swap two shots, go into yellow segment mode, hold down the command key and drag the second shot until it's head is aligned with the head of the first shot. The two shots will swap positions. Command-drag also works in trim mode. It can be very useful for all kinds of things. For example, to remove an overlap cut, go into trim mode on picture or track, hold down the command key and drag the edit straight. Nearly instantaneous. Control-drag up or down to move a shot to another track (great for Splitting Tracks). With the control key down the clip will move up or down -- but it can't move side to side. |
