If you have a group of galleries that you want to call up at one time, add a dollar sign ($) to the end of the name of each gallery. When you get to the other room, open the file card and search for gallery name $. You will get just the galleries you named, saving you the time of writing the names down and searching individually. You can use other characters but stay away from asterisk (*), question mark (?) or quotation marks ("). Remember to remove the character after each search otherwise the next time you use this trick you will get the new and the old searches.

You can use transient galleries as 'post it' notes. Say you want to let the editor know which scenes are complete. Click on the gallery tool and name it something like "Ready to Cut". Close the gallery and place it to the left of the permanent galleries that the note is for. When the note has been read, it can be sharked and will be gone from the system. To make a point about a specific gallery you can add dashes and greater than/less than symbols like so: Ready to Cut ----> [and then the permanent gallery] Until `namable' racks arrive with system 4.0, you can use a transient gallery at the top of racks to indicate the range of scenes or a brief description of the contents of the rack. Remember to always shark the notes that you have read, otherwise you can clog up the system with all of these temporary notes.
