AMPAS Salutes Allen
Editor Dede Allen, ACE, right, was the subject of a career retrospective tribute last Fall by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences at the Academy Theatre at Lighthouse International in New York City. She is pictured at the event with director Arthur Penn and actress Estelle Parsons, both of whom worked with Allen on Bonnie and Clyde. There’s Still 10 Months Left!
It’s not too late to order your 2007 Motion Picture Editors Guild Calendar. This year’s wall calendars, ideal for hanging in the workplace, are applicable to all of our classifications across the country. The calendar is available in four versions: General, East Coast, Picture Editor/Assistants/Apprentices and Sound Editors/Assistants/Music Editors.

Printed in a larger format and more colorful than last year’s model, they include a listing of IATSE holidays for both East and West Coast Agreements, as well as helpful information about the Editors Guild and the Motion Picture Industry Pension and Health Plans.

Honorary ACEs


Frank J. Urioste.

Editors John Soh, ACE, and Frank J. Urioste, ACE, were each selected to receive the American Cinema Editors’ (ACE) prestigious Lifetime Career Achievement Award, which honors veteran editors whose body of work and reputation within the industry is outstanding. In addition, writer-director Quentin Tarantino is the honoree of the ACE Golden Eddie Filmmaker of the Year Award, which recognizes a filmmaker of extraordinary vision.

The awards were scheduled to be given out at the 57th Annual ACE Eddie Awards on February 18 in the International Ballroom of the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills.

Golden Reel Recipients
The Motion Picture Sound Editors (MPSE) has picked Richard L. Anderson, MPSE, as the recipient of its Career Achievement Award. Also, actor-director Clint Eastwood has been chosen Filmmaker of the Year by the association.

These honorary awards were scheduled to be presented at the 54th Annual MPSE Golden Reel Awards on February 24 at the Beverly Hilton Hotel.
