Dede Allen Receives Guild Fellowship and Service Award

Acclaimed editor Dede Allen, A.C.E., was presented with the Motion Picture Editors Guild’s Fellowship and Service Award on Saturday evening, January 5, 2008, at the Loews Santa Monica Hotel in Santa Monica, California. Allen is the second recipient of the prestigious award, which recognizes the values of Professionalism, Collaboration, Mentorship, Generosity of Spirit and Commitment to the Labor Movement. Guild Past President Donn Cambern, A.C.E., was the initial recipient in 2007.
After an introduction by Editors Guild President Lisa Zeno Churgin, A.C.E., actor-writer-producer-director Warren Beatty, with whom Allen collaborated on Reds (1981) and Bonnie and Clyde (1967), presented her with the crystal award at a gala banquet before over 120 family members, colleagues, friends and Guild staffers.

The evening was also the Installation Dinner for the Guild’s newly elected or re-elected officers and members of the Board of Directors. The officers are Lisa Zeno Churgin (President), Alan Heim, A.C.E. (Vice President), Louis Bertini, MPSE (Second Vice President), Diane Adler, A.C.E. (Secretary), Rachel B. Igel (Treasurer) and William (Bill) Elias (Sergeant-at-Arms).

The members are: Beth Stiller (At Large), Harry Peck Bolles (Eastern Region), Martin Levenstein (Alternate, Eastern Region), Paul Covington (Editor), Nancy Richardson, A.C.E. (Editor), Scott Young (Engineer), John Trask (Recordist), Gregg Rudloff (Re-Recording Mixer), Jeff Burman (Sound Editor) and Samuel C. Crutcher (Sound Editor).
The outgoing Board members, whom President Churgin thanked for their service and who received a plaque of appreciation were: Carol Littleton, A.C.E. (Vice President), Jessica Rubin (Assistant Editor), Dan Ward (Eastern Region), John Gilbert, A.C.E. (Editor), Jordan Goldman (Editor), Gary Ritchie (Recordist) and J. Paul Huntsman, MPSE (Sound Editor).
