West Coast Training Update
by Serena Kung

The goal of keeping our members up to date on the newest technology continues to drive the Training department at the Editors Guild in Hollywood. The first seminar of 2006 was sponsored by Steinberg Media Technologies. Greg Ondo, Steinberg marketing manager, spent the evening covering a wide array of topics such as customizing the Nuendo interface, MIDI sequencing, delivery formats, shortcuts and the integration and use of software instruments.

Board member Sharon Smith Holley coordinated the “Conversations about Animation Editing” event in late March at the DreamWorks Campanile Theatre, where animation editors discussed the challenges of cutting a feature that began with only dialogue, as well as storyboards and the creative collaboration between editor, director and animation artists.

Coming soon, members can look forward to:

  • Final Cut Pro User Group on Wednesday, May 3 at 7:00 p.m.
  • Part 2 of the Avid vs. Final Cut Pro series, date and time TBA.
  • Tips ‘n’ Tricks workshop with Avid Technology, date and time TBA.
