So, You Take the I-9 to Ventura Boulevard...
…Oh no, that’s not right, but almost! I’m
talking about that pesky trip to Contract Services every three years
to fill out the Employment Eligibility Verification form known as
the I-9.
And, yes, I do know that every employer I’ve ever had has made
me fill out one every time I start a new job. And I’m
one of those goody-goodies who actually has gone to Contract Services
every three years!
However, this is a regulation mandated by the government and not something we can blame on the producers. Now Contract Services is getting tougher and enforcing it. If you don’t go in when notified to do so, you will get two more reminders. And then you’ll be suspended from the Roster and will be unable to work until you do get yourself signed up!
If you’re working in Southern California from out of state, you still have to hie yourself over there. Contract Services is at 15503 Ventura Boulevard in Encino, California. The phone is 818-995-0900. A passport is the easiest identification to bring with you and can substitute for all the others, like your driver’s license and original Social Security card.
And it’s really not so bad going there––the facility has really neat mosaics of movies on the wall around the building.
