Academy Adds Allen, Behlmer as Governors
Among the eight new Governors elected in July to represent their branches on the Board of Governors of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS) are two Editors Guild members. Returning to serve on the AMPAS Board after a hiatus are Dede Allen, ACE, representing Film Editors, and Curt Behlmer representing Sound.
Fourteen of the Academy’s 15 branches are each represented by three governors, who may serve up to three consecutive three-year terms. Terms are staggered so that each branch elects or re-elects one governor each year (the recently created Makeup branch is represented by a single governor).
Governors who were not up for re-election and continue on the Board include Donn Cambern, ACE, and Mark Goldblatt, ACE, Film Editors; and J. Paul Huntsman, MPSE, and Kevin O’Connell, Sound.

We Want Your Memories!
The Motion Picture Editors Guild Archive Committee is in the process
of putting together a permanent record of our place in the history
of motion pictures and television. We are interested in collecting
and organizing the stories of our members and the various classifications
represented by the Guild.
To that end, we would like to collect old photographs, keepsakes or tools of the trade that members would like to donate to the Guild in order to share with the current membership.
The accompanying photograph was donated by Alan Heim, ACE. It depicts Heim,
right, in the editing room for the feature Network in 1977, with, from left,
screenwriter Paddy Chayefsky, director Sidney Lumet (front) and producer Howard
Gottfried.
If you would like to contribute, or have any questions, please contact Serena
Kung at 323-876-4770, ext. 247, or skung@editorsguild.com.

Sushi Schmooze
On Wednesday, July 18, over 120 Editors Guild members attended the
Guild-sponsored membership mixer at Sushi Dan on Sunset Boulevard
in West Hollywood. Active members from all classifications ate, drank
and made merry with their peers as well as members of the Guild staff.
This is the second mixer held at the popular sushi bar and restaurant.
