Calendar Conundrum
When is a year not 365 and one-quarter days? When it’s being
figured out for your pension hours! That’s right, it’s
time for my annual reminder.
We should all know that a qualified year for those participating in the Motion Picture Industry Pension Plan is 400 hours of work. They do not have to be consecutive hours.
However, the year is not figured from January 1 through December 31. The Pension Plan year starts the Sunday before the last Thursday of the previous year, and ends on the Saturday before the last Thursday of December of the current year.
So the 2007 dates are from December 24, 2006 to December 22, 2007. The 2008 dates will be from December 23, 2007 to December 20, 2008. You have to figure your hours using those dates. Mark your calendars.
And, yes, I will remind you of this again next year!
