An Afternoon with Lee Dichter

Diving into Dialogue: Exploring different techniques of dialogue mixing and discussing different methods of matching ADR.

Lee Dichter has been working in the sound industry for over 50 years. He started in the transfer department of his fathers mixing studio and soon made the transition to mixing TV commercials. Within a few years he began mixing documentaries and low budgets features.

By the time he joined Sound One in 1983, Lee was mixing films directed by Arthur Penn, Alan Pakula and Sidney Lumet. His reputation and expertise in dialogue mixing eventually brought him to work with Woody Allen, Mike Nichols, Nora Ephron, M. Knight Shyamalan and many others.

On Saturday, October 20th, the Guild proudly presented Mr. Dichter with our most valued Fellowship & Service Award. The award salutes individuals who embody Professionalism, Collaboration, Mentorship, Generosity of Spirit and Commitment to the Labor Movement. Hundreds of his family, friends and colleagues joined him to celebrate this honor.  Read more.
