This workshop is open to 10 active members with working knowledge of Avid Media Composer and Adobe creative suite.

COURSE DESCRIPTION


This course will cover assistant editing for narrative features, primarily from a studio feature perspective. Using Avid Media Composer, we will go over a typical schedule, the different phases of the job from production, to director’s cut, to post & finishing.  We will then discuss the specific workflows necessary for each phase, including but not limited to prepping dailies for production, the editor, and the studio, Script sync for features, sound work and temporary VFX work, preparing for screenings, and turning over to the various departments when the schedule requires. We’ll also touch on VFX workflows, tracking shots in feature films, and go over the various roles in the editorial department of a feature film and how they function.


BIO



Michael Wooldridge has been an assistant editor on narrative feature films for the last six years, and prior to that worked in commercials, reality TV, documentaries, and DI & Finishing. He’s worked for directors such as Ben Stiller, Gideon Raff, and Tom McCarthy on films for Paramount, Blumhouse, Fox, and Disney. He’s had the good fortune of learning at the hands editors like Tim Squyres, Brian Berdan, Greg Hayden, and Tom McArdle.
