Avid Tips & Tricks for Picture Editors and Assistants

Some familiarity with Avid Media Composer will be assumed in these seminars, and some working experience with Media Composer will be required for the workshop.
The seminars will present a collection of Avid tips and tricks and provide a closer look at some of the lesser-known features. These include:

· Import & Batch Import and color levels
· Workspaces, Bin Layouts and linked settings
· Effects and stacking them in the timeline, including tracking
· FCP-Style timeline editing
· Audio
· Color Correction
· Quickeys, a tool that automates keystrokes and menu selections

The morning seminar will emphasize, but will not be limited to, input and preparation. The afternoon seminar will include sections focusing on color correction, as well as the use of QuicKeys.
The seminar will be presented in the form of a lecture with Q&A. Workshop participants will practice the techniques covered in both seminars.
Assistant Editor, Rainer Standke's background that includes assisting, finishing and editing on a wide variety of projects. His feature credits include work on 'The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe', Journey to the Center of the Earth' and 'I Love You, Beth Cooper'. He has taught Avid classes since 1996, and in the past couple of years Rainer has also taken on software development with a focus on post production workflow issues.

Tuesday, May 22, 10:30am - 6:30pm
Wednesday, May 23, 10:30am - 6:30pm
The workshops are 6 hours and will provide more in depth hands-on training in lab format. Computers and software will be provided. And there is a $35 to reserve your spot in the workshop, but no fee for the seminars.
