Join Our Nationwide Post-Production Community

When you join the Motion Picture Editors Guild, you become part of a community of post-production professionals, including:

  • animation editors
  • apprentice editors
  • assistant editors
  • colorists
  • engineers
  • foley artists
  • librarians
  • music editors
  • picture editors
  • recordists
  • re-recording/scoring mixers
  • sound editors
  • story analysts
  • technical directors
  • trailer editors

...and more.

Your membership offers you valuable training and social networking opportunities, as well as vital protections guaranteed by our union contracts.

Additionally, you become a part of an even larger entity - the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees, Moving Pictures Technicians and Allied Crafts of the United States, its territories and Canada (IATSE), an organization over 170,000 members strong

MPEG negotiates new Collective Bargaining Agreements (union contracts) and enforces existing agreements with employers involved in post-production. Our contracts define requirements for wages, health insurance, retirement and pension, safety (such as working turnaround time) and artistic integrity (assignment of credit).

The negotiated pension and health plans are among the best benefits found anywhere in the country. As corporate health and pension plans are rapidly disappearing, the Motion Picture Industry Pension and Health Plans, and the IATSE National Benefit Funds, remain solvent and robust due to the diligence and commitment of the IATSE and its locals.

Our primarily freelance film and television industry provides unique and rewarding careers. Our negotiated health and pension benefits are designed with the freelance nature of our work in mind and offer a continuity of benefits that are portable and accessible to freelance workers across a trade industry.

Our Guild is governed by a Board of Directors and officers, all elected from and by the membership. They provide representation and firsthand insight into the day-to-day issues facing our members.

Once you join, we hope you will take advantage of all the opportunities that being a part of the Guild has to offer!
