JOIN WEST COAST Requirements

In order to work for union employers on the West Coast, you must be on the Industry Experience Roster (“Roster”) administered by the Contract Services Administration Trust Fund (CSATF). The Roster lists the names of individuals who have acquired a certain amount of work experience within their specific craft as outlined in each local union's collective bargaining agreement.

Applying for placement on the Roster is a separate and distinct process from applying for union membership. Additionally, placement on the Roster does not automatically trigger union membership or vice-versa.

*** In-person Orientation Meetings are temporarily suspended. ***

Orientation Meetings are currently being held virtually via Zoom.

Apprentice Editor

Work Experience

Under the terms of the Collective Bargaining Agreement in existence between the Producers and Local 700, employers are required to give preference of employment in all hires to persons who are already on the Industry Experience Roster ("The Roster"), which is maintained by Contract Service Administration Trust Fund.

The Roster lists the names of individuals who have acquired a certain amount of work experience (and, in some cases, additional requirements) within their specific craft as outlined in each of the local unions' collective bargaining agreements

The Industry Experience roster must be exhausted before a signatory company can hire a non-roster Apprentice. Guild approval is necessary prior to beginning any union job. If approval is granted, you must join the Guild after 30 calendar days. You are then eligible for roster placement.

What is CSATF?

Under the terms of the Collective Bargaining Agreement in existence between the Producers and Local 700, employers are required to give preference of employment in all hires to persons who are already on the Industry Experience Roster, which is maintained by Contract Services Administration Trust Fund.

The Industry Experience Roster (“The Roster”) lists the names of individuals who have acquired a certain amount of work experience (and, in some cases, additional requirements) within their specific craft as outlined in each of the local unions’ collective bargaining agreements.
