Guild Members Walk to Fight AIDS
Although it rained on Sunday, October 17, the day of the 20th annual Los Angeles AIDS Walk, nothing could dampen the spirits of the Editors Guild AIDS Walk team, under the leadership of team leader and Guild Board member Maggie Ostroff.

Eleven Guild members raised money and walked more than six miles through West Los Angeles, while 12 others also raised funds. Editors Guild team t-shirts were generously donated by the loop group LA Mad Dogs.

More than 25,000 people in all participated in the 10k walk, raising over $3 million for AIDS and HIV programs in Los Angeles.

Cheers! Editors Mix at Academy
The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS) held a members-only mixer for its Film Editors Branch at the Academy’s Pickford Center for Motion Picture Study in Hollywood September 30. About 35 editors attended the gathering, including (pictured right) Arthur Schmidt, who has earned two Oscars––for Who Framed Roger Rabbit? and Forrest Gump––and also was nominated for Coal Miner’s Daughter, and Anne V. Coates, an Oscar winner for Lawrence of Arabia and nominee for Becket, The Elephant Man, In the Line of Fire and Out of Sight. Photo courtesy of AMPAS

Heim Heads ACE

Academy Award-winning editor Alan Heim was elected President of the American Cinema Editors (ACE) at the association’s installation dinner in August. He will serve a two-year term and takes over for outgoing President Tina Hirsch.

Newly elected Board of Directors include Lillian Benson, Edgar Burcksen, Tina Hirsch, Allan Holzman, Randy Roberts and Rick Shaine. They join incumbent

Board members Stephen Lovejoy, Martin Nicholson, Ted Rich and Eric Sears.
Elected to the Associate Board of Directors were Claudia Finkle, Harry Miller and Stan Salfas. Congratulations to all.
