As technology continues to evolve at a rapid pace, it is essential that the membership work collaboratively to uphold the provisions in our collective bargaining agreements and remain informed about its impact on pre-production, production and post-production.

Note: Anything that is cloud-based or uses a "credit system" is most likely generative AI.
A: A subset of machine learning that generates new content including, but not limited to, text, video, audio, three-dimensional (3D) models, code, and images. A "Gen AI System" is any machine-based system that uses Gen AI as a core function.
A: Any user-provided input -regardless of format or modality (including but not limited to text, images, video, audio, annotations, and metadata)- intended to direct, constrain, influence, or initiate the result or response of an Artificial Intelligence system.
A: Your employer may continue to utilize technologies consistent with historic practices and has the right to utilize new technologies. If time allows however, an employee has the right to consult with the employer over such usage.
A: If you are comfortable doing so, you might first try respectfully voicing your concern with your employer. If this does not work, or you are not comfortable pushing back, please call the Guild or email askarep@editorsguild.com for advice about your specific situation.
A: Employees utilizing AI systems to perform services shall continue to be covered under the CBA while performing such work.
A: You must adhere to your employer’s policies regarding its usage. Additionally, you should always make sure you have your employer’s consent in writing prior to feeding intellectual property into any system. The Producer alone has the right to determine the use of, or rejection of, AI systems.
A: Yes, your employer must indemnify you from liability and necessary costs, including providing you a legal defense, resulting from any claims arising from the use of AI systems. Please notify a field representative immediately by calling the Guild or emailing askarep@editorsguild.com, if you believe that you will be involved in a lawsuit regarding AI systems. Reminder: always adhere to your employer’s policies regarding the use of AI systems. You are also protected from the scanning of your visual or vocal likeness without consent, which must include a description of intended use.
A: Please report AI systems (or any new tool) used for the first time on every project or assignment in the form below. It is extremely important to know what tools are being integrated into member workflows, and how, for the protection of our classifications’ covered work. In addition, this information will assist us in preparing for negotiations. Although having specific examples will be extremely important, we have also allowed for such information to be reported anonymously.
A: No, your employer may not require an employee to provide prompts that result in the displacement of any covered employee. Please report any instances of this right away to a field representative by calling the Guild or emailing askarep@editorsguild.com.
These answers are specific to the Post Production Majors and Independents Agreements, their Amendment (NY) Agreements, the Videotape Agreement, the Low Budget Theatrical Agreement, and many standalone agreements negotiated directly by Local 700.
