By a vote of 96%, grocery workers in Southern and Central California have authorized their union (UFCW) to strike to win a fair contract from their employers: Ralphs, Albertsons, Vons, and Pavilions. Roughly 60,000 grocery store employees have been working without a contract since March, and they are fighting to preserve their healthcare and retirement benefits. The L.A. County Federation of Labor (a body which includes the Editors Guild and the IATSE) voted overwhelmingly to support these workers in their pursuit of a fair deal.
Come join your fellow Editors Guild members, our sisters and brothers in other IATSE locals, and the broader labor community as we rally to show support for grocery store employees. We'll be rallying with the UFCW at the Koreatown Ralphs (670 S Western Ave, Los Angeles, CA 90005) on Tuesday, July 9th, at 2 P.M.
