Wall Street Journal: VICE Media's TV and Video Employees May Unionize

The Wall Street Journal reports on an organizing campaign underway at VICE Media in Brooklyn. VICE's post-production employees are organizing with the Motion Picture Editors Guild. The campaign is being conducted in conjunction with the Writers Guild of America, East (representing writers and producers) and SAG-AFTRA (representing hosts, correspondents, and on-screen talent). Check out MPEG board member Dorian Harris ACE pitching in with her sewing skills to make masks for healthcare workers and others during the crisis. “This was way more labor-intensive than I thought,” Harris says. But watching news coverage, she realized “EVERYONE needs a mask, so I got to work.” (Her son-in-law, assistant editor and Local 700 member Armando Sanchez, models her handiwork in photo 2.)
